The meeting was called to order at 12:00 by Joyce Figueroa de Raschke
Introductions were made.
Joyce passed around the announcement re; the Suquamish Tribe's Conference, "No Longer Living in Silence". Some DVTF members are already going, a few expressed interest in going.
Joyce brought up the issue of funding DVTF events. Discussion followed with many good suggestions including donations from the community for give-away items.
Joyce plans to contact the commissioners on 3/23 to request they do a "proclamation" re; the DVTF Quarterly on April 28. Joyce will also develop a flyer that we can use to advertise the Quarterly and will send it out to the Board for approval.
Quarterly: April 28th at Crossroads Neighborhood Church, 6-8 PM. Jake Fawcett, Program Specialist at WSCADV will do a presentation on "Washington State Domestic Violence Fatality Review". The DVTF Board will meet at 4:30 PM for a Board meeting, and to set up for the Quarterly.
All Board members are asked to bring a 12-pack of pop/water or 2 bags of ice.
The Board voted and approved spending up to $100. on food/snacks for the Quarterly.
Joan will contact Jake to get topic/program info for Joyce to use on the flyer.
Board members who are putting together baskets for the Quarterly silent auction should e-mail Joan with info about basket contents so she can put together the forms to be used for the silent auction. It was decided that 5 baskets would be a good number. Coordinate with Barbara and Sue if you have donations or ideas for the silent auction.
Newsletter: Get a hold of Joan if you have items for the newsletter. It needs to go out by the first part of April in order to adequately advertise the Quarterly.
Picnic: The DVTF Community picnic will be on 7/28, from 4-8 PM (Board members be there at 3 PM). JOBS follow…..Please read these over carefully to make sure we did not forget anything…
Summit: October 16th at Crossroads Neighborhood Church, 8-4 PM. The focus will be on kids (internet stalking, social networking, "sexting", school policies, keeping kids safe, etc…) and the title is www.yourkidontheweb.com We now own that site and can link it to the Summit from our web site.
We are planning a key note speaker in the morning and break-out sessions in the afternoon. We will attempt to get another speaker from the Stalking Resource Center (Jolene working on) for the am session.
Ideas for the afternoon include; a person from a computer company to discuss ways to keep kids safe when they are on-line, someone from Washington State Patrol's missing and exploited children program, a PhD student to present his/her research on a related topic, school personnel to discuss school policies re; to technology, a detective to talk about internet crimes against children.
Jolene will look into getting the Summit approved for "clock hours" for educators, and WCSAP approved for training hours for service providers.
Barbara and Joyce will see about getting sample trays of food from different caterers that the Board can try out during our April meeting prior to the Quarterly.
Meeting adjourned at 3:45
Minutes respectfully submitted by
Jolene Culbertson
