Financial Report
Joan presented the January & February 2010 Financial report. The Financial reports were accepted.
New Business/Updates: Board agreed to submit changes to the bylaws to the board to include: Executive meetings continue as they have been, monthly. Board meetings changing to 6 meetings a month, Jan, April, May July, Sept & October. Board seats remain at 16 but quorum requirements will be 6 & also we will be incorporating the requirements for an annual Audit into the bylaws. Carol is going to check with the city Treasurer to see if they could perform it.. Carol will also be making the bylaw changes and then submitting to board for approval. At the next meeting (April 24th Thursday 4pm, Jackson Park, Bremerton right before the 6pm quarterly)
Sue King and Ronnie Mullins will be inventorying our storage unit. Joan will provide them with a key and information on entering.
Summit - (Oct. 15th Jackson Park) will be about Elder & Handicap abuse. Crystal is working on getting a speaker/idea from APS. We will get updated at the April meeting on the progress. Breakout ideas - Fraud, Sexual assault, financial manipulation, etc.
Picnic - (Tuesday July 27th Evergreen Park, Bremerton) Joan will delegate tasks and send out the "ask" letters to the board for requesting donations from the local businesses. Since the dunk tank was so successful we will be having it again. The board needs to start working on the dunkee list now.
Sue King brought up the fact that during Crime Victim's week (4/18-4/24) nothing is done in this area and we should have a presence during that, as well as other events. Task Force needs to get involved more during these events. Crime Victims site is www.ncvrw.org. At least we need links to these events/organizations on our website. Any other ideas for the website can be emailed to Joan and she will forward it on to the webmaster. One request was that the photos on the website that are scrolling be slowed down and updated to more recent photos.
Jackie asked if there was any way we could accept grants and designate them for college scholarships for local students and for individuals in the DV community that need to attend educational seminars/retreats but cannot afford them.
Joan is trying to organize a comedy fundraiser at the Cloverleaf in Bremerton for June 12th (Saturday). Board members will be asked to sell tickets to the event.
Kate Smith is going to asked to join us at the next board meeting in April. We will still be short 3 members and the board was asked to think of some good potential possibilities. We will have a booth next to the YWCA at the Westsound Safety Expo, August 16-17. We will need 8 people to work 2 hours shifts. Joan will be asking everyone to volunteer to work . She will also be ordering some more free goodies to be handing out.
Committee Changes:
Faith Community Action Group - Tom/Joe and Sue will meet with the Countywide Pastor's Group to tell them about the DVTF and our services. Crystal will provide contact information to Tom/Joe and Sue. I believe we decided this wasn't necessarily a "committee" but rather an educational/contact process. The three who meet with the pastors will get updated e-mail contact information for the churches and the DVTF will work to send information to the churches on a routine basis (twice a year?).
RESPECT is going strong and a very necessary committee. No changes needed.
Triple Play - Will go to the YWCA to carry on. Jackie pointed out that they have the partners together in other settings and that it makes more sense for the Y to have this under their umbrella. We will still receive reports (Jackie?) periodically.
Minority Services - We will ask April Bourbon to come to the April meeting to give us an update about immigrant assistant activities. The group decided this isn't a committee as much as an opportunity to make sure the DVTF is meeting the needs of minorities in our community. We will ask April or someone like April to give the Board periodic updates and share information about services.
Perpetrator Treatment/Victim Services Debbie Brockman heads up and has it going strong again. They meet at the SAU building in Port Orchard once a month. The Perp. Tx providers attend regularly and have to in order to get their continue ed. Credits. Because of the cuts in probation this is a well attended and much needed group.
Membership Committee is really a function of the Executive Committee, so this will be a report rather than a "committee" function.
Old Business:
Applebees fundraiser May 6th - all day, eat in or take out. Pass it on!!
Meeting adjourned at 11:53 PM
Respectfully submitted by
Joan Taie
