January 23, 2007
Crossroads Church, Bremerton 5 P.M.

Board members present Sue Shultz, Sharlyne Hays, Susan Dewees, Joyce Figueroa de Raschke Laurie Adamson, Jackie Aitchison, Steven Garcia, Rebecca Garcia, Kevin Grandy, Jody Stewart.

Board members excused: Lynda Walters.

Board members not excused: Oudy Acosta Perez, Benny Myers, Mike Lasnier

Others present: Joan Taie, Administrative Assistant & Larry McKnight DV Liason from Atty. Generals Office.

Jackie called the meeting to order.

September & November minutes were approved.

Financial report: Financial report was handed out and explained.

Larry was in LE for many years working in the DV Task Force. In the 80's he was with Marion County in Oregon working with the Native American communities. Larry wants the community to dictate what his job is. Where the needs are. He is working on house bills like the strangulation enhancement issue. Also working on "Coaching Boys to Men" a men's awareness group. He will be going to existing groups throughout the state and gathering their ideas to try to decide what he should be focusing on.

Committee reports:

Program/Community Outreach- July Picnic space at Evergreen Park is reserved for the 24th on the other side of the park because our usual area was taken. We have not heard back from the NCVLI Oregon Group that wanted a presentation of "Anatomy of a Crime".

Financial: New computer is needed. Last one was purchased in 2000. This one is not doing too good. Joan is going to have an estimate brought to the next meeting.

Bridging the Gaps: Claire is working on putting together a meeting

Faith Committee: Received a donation from an individual who had been a victim of DV. The donation is $5,965.65 and she requested some of it be used for training youth and to help with a need of the shelter.

Respect group: A couple members of R.E.S.P.E.C.T. will be performing "In Her Shoes" Feb. 15th during a break at OC in Poulsbo.

Minority Services: Received a $2,500 grant from the Suquamish Tribe.

Medical: No report.

Perpetrator/TX: No report.

Kitsap Advocate Group: No Report

Alumni: No report

Membership committee:

New Business: Laurie talked about OC's Displaced Homemaker program. The college will be able to fund them one quarter plus supplies and sometimes transportation and daycare. She is going to email the info to Dayle for our website.

Sharylne - Victim Advocate training for Sexual Assault is coming up and will be free. Call Shar if interested.
