Untitled Board Meeting Minutes

November 10, 2008

YWCA, Bremerton 4 P.M

Present: Joyce Figueroa de Raschke, Jolene Culbertson, Crystal Gray, Barbara Chandler-Young, Jody Stewart, Oudy Acosta Perez, Susan Dewees, Jackie Brown & Joan Taie, Administrative Coordinator. Guests: Barbara Saur (R.E.S.P.E.C.T) & Georgene Smith Auditor

The meeting was called to order by Susan Dewees at 4:10 pm Minutes for September & October were approved. Volunteer timesheets were filled out and given to Joan. Joyce was voted in as the interim Vice Chair. She will continue her Treasurer position.

Sub Committee Reports

SUMMIT RE-CAP

Jolene went through the Surveys from the Summit. Attendees reported that they missed the breakout sessions & would like more advanced info. Wanted to start the day later and get the date out sooner. Most attendees heard about the Summit through word of mouth & email.

Jolene suggested that we don't have so many people doing so many different things and there be better communication for next Summit planning.

Jolene was nominated and voted in as Summit Chair for next year's Summit.

The date for next year's Summit was decided to be October 16th, 2009. Joan will reserve Crossroads. Save the date cards should be sent out early. Susan D suggested we plan a silent auction for next year.

PERPETRATOR TREATMENT/VICTIM'S SERVICES - Oudy accepted chairing this committee. She will not be available for the Nov. meeting so Susan D will cancel and the next meeting will be as scheduled in Dec.

FAITH COMMUNITY ACTION GROUP - No Report

PROGRAM/COMMUNITY OUTREACH - Jolene spoke the Soroptomist & Agape about DV.

Triple Play - Arranging a trip to Drug Court. A drug counselor from KRC will be coming to next mtg. (11/26 10AM Waterfront Bakery, Silverdale) to explain about drug court. Barbara was on a panel at Bellevue Community College, "3 Phases of Healing" Patty Bland was the Keynote and attendees received education credits.

RESPECT - Barbara Saur gave a brief background about the committee. They are requesting funds from the Task Force to continue with their DV workshops, training & educational contests. Suggestions were made to ask for business partnerships & grants to cover costs. She was hoping to have an answer from the board by Friday, 11/20 for the meeting.

The board voted on providing the RESPECT committee $1100.00 toward their budget.

Minority - No Report

Membership - Interviews took place and 4 new members have been selected to join the board. Kate Sigafoos; Kitsap Prosecutors office, Ronny Mullins; Juvenile Probation, Carol Lynn Etgen; City Clerk & Sue King; Serene Beginnings. We have one more opening now and there will be 2 more in early 2009.

New Business -

  • Retreat date February 10, 2009 12 - 4pm. Oudy is checking on Island Lake
  • December Meeting (9th) Yacht Club broiler 4 to 6 PM (Dutch Dinner)
  • Nomination of Officers in December and Election in January
  • Motion was made by Oudy to pay for Susan Dewees training the board agreed
  • Oudy's contract was fulfilled and closed out.
  • Georgena Smith talked to the board about auditing the books after the holidays. At least two board members need to be present. The board will wait until after nomination of new board members so both past and present Treasurers can be present.
