I. Approval of Minutes: Minutes were approved for October.

II. Financial Report: Volunteer sheets were turned in. P&L was passed out.

III. Committee Reports

A. Program - Martha has volunteered to take over as Chair of the Program Committee. Jackson Katz has confirmed that he will be the keynote at the 2003 Summit. Time and date is yet to be determined. The Summit is going to focus on youth violence.

B. Community Education

C. Speakers Bureau/Trainings - There have been 2 requests for trainings lately and they have been fulfilled.

2. Topic Specific Workgroups

a. Bridging the Gap: No meeting this month - no report.

b. Faith Community Action Group: No report.

c. Substance Abuse Providers: With Mary Ellen de la Pena's help the survey has been developed for the advisory board. (Martha passed it around the table)

d. RESPECT Kitsap Youth: Candy Cardinal wanted to thank the board for funding the initial printing of the RESPECT brochures. The Youth Commission will be funding the next printing. These brochures have been in development for over 5 months. There is nothing like it in the community. We are very pleased with them. The group plans on targeting Jr. High and High Schools and in service provider's offices, hospitals, theaters, etc. The RESPECT group is very small (4-5) and it takes time to get things accomplished. If anyone has any needs of the group please call or email and they will try to accommodate. Meetings are every 3rd Friday at the Silverdale Community Center, Coho Room.

The need for support groups for teens is high in our area. We will be focusing on youth in the Summit and would like to see youth help with putting it together.

e. Perpetrator Treatment/Victim's Services: No Report

Minority Services - Last meeting they discussed the services provided at El Centro. John was impressed. Carlos Aleman, a certified service provider has shown interest in opening a treatment center in Bremerton.

g. Legislative update - Martha informed us that the VAWA office had been in jeopardy of getting shut down but luckily they were able to stay open.

h. Membership - We need some devoted, energetic people on the board to fill several spots. Please think of some people that might be interested. The application is available on our website. Time to vote in new Executive members. So far Martha has been nominated for Treasurer and Sue Shultz as Vice-Chair.

IV. Old Business - Remember - December's board meeting will be at the Silver City Brewing Company in Silverdale, Dec. 17th at noon. Please RSVP to Joan so she can give an accurate head count.

New Business - Once again, attendance was low. We really need ALL the support of the board. Please try to attend the meetings.

VII. Meeting Adjourned

Respectfully Submitted,

Joan Taie Administrative Coordinator
