The meeting was called to order by Administrative Coordinator, Heidi Hoke.
I. Minutes:
The October minutes were approved as written.
II. Treasurer’s Report:
The financial report from October was submitted. Two
grants have been
written and are ready to mail out. The final Summit report was submitted.
The net income was
$2,997.11. We had budgeted for a net of $3,000.
III. Committee Reports:
A. Program Committee:
Notes were submitted from the 11/15/00 meeting. The
next meeting will be December 13, 9 a.m. at the YWCA.
1. Network: The December meeting has been cancelled. The January meeting
will be used for brainstorming future meetings.
2. Summit: Crossroads Church was surprised and excited to receive our
donation. We
relayed to them how much a success the Summit was and thanked them for
the use of the
facility.
3. Board Retreat: February 9, 2001 at Long Lake in Port Orchard from 12 -
5 p.m.
4. Quarterly Forum: Next meeting will be January 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the
Silverdale Lutheran Church. The movie “Tough Guise” will be shown.
5. The KCDVTF Community Awards program will be during the April Quarterly
Forum.
B. Community Education:
1. Dispute Resolution Center Grant: The DRC has met with Dean, Sally, and
Dayle to discuss
plans for their training. They will be meeting again next week. Dianne
asked if Faith
providers are referring people to the DRC. Dean didn’t think it was a
very significant
number.
2. Speakers: no report.
3. Training/Topic Specific
a. CPS: no report.
b. Bridging the Gap: The next meeting will be December 14 at 4 p.m. at
the Jury Holding
Room.
c. Faith Community Action Group: Dianne is going to a conference on
Restorative Justice
for The Center. Bainbridge Island is looking for safe houses. Results
from the Faith
Evaluation are in (see Dianne for details). A speaking engagement is
scheduled in
December for the First Baptist Church in Port Orchard and the Unitarian
Universalist
Fellowship on Bainbridge Island in January. Heidi passed out the article
by Keith Beebe
which mentioned a talk provided to his congregation about DV - it
appeared in the NK Herald.
d. Substance Abuse Providers: In reference to an article in the paper,
Martha wanted to
clarify that there are other places besides the YWCA that take in DV
victims for housing.
The YWCA though is the only one where DV is priority one. A training was
held for the
YWCA about DV and chemical dependency.
e. Youth Violence : Dianne mentioned that The Center is making a new
video about dating
violence entitled “Love...All That And More”. It will be coming out next
year. Perhaps we
could have a movie showing/premier.
f. Victim’s Services/Perpetrator Treatment: no report.
C. Membership: Interviews are being scheduled for the interested parties.
IV. Old Business:
A. Executive Board Nominations: Dean reported that Dayle is not interested
in another term as
Chair. Cheryl has volunteered to run for Chair, Denise for Secretary, and
Debbie for a second
term as Treasurer. This leaves us without a Vice-Chair. Martha volunteered
to take on the
position of Treasurer if Debbie wanted to step up to Vice-Chair. The vote
for Executive Board officers will take place at the January board
meeting.
V. New Business:
VI. Updates
A. SAIVS: no report.
B. It was recommended that we should add “Shelter” to our agenda each
meeting so we can
talk about housing needs.
C. Sue reported that the Substance Abuse Prevention Celebration held each
April is considering
adding other issues, including Domestic Violence. If anyone is interested
in being on a
committee to help with this, you can contact Ginger Lancaster at Project
Family (373-3030).
VII. Meeting Adjourned
Respectfully Submitted,
Heidi Hoke
Administrative Coordinator
