BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING- September 24, 2002 Noon
Health District

Board Members Present: Helen Todhunter, Susan Vitale-Olson, Laurie Adamson, Claire Bradley, John Wise, Tracy Flood, Marilyn Wandry & Dayle Crane.

Board Members Excused: Ramalina Steiner, Debbie Brockman, Martha Voorhees, Pete Ball & Denise Thomson.

Board Members Not Excused: Sue Shultz, Martin Knott, Rick Wilson & Dianne Juhl.

Others Present: Joan Taie (Administrative Coordinator).

Susan Vitale-Olson called the meeting to order. I. Approval of Minutes: Minutes were approved (with Tim Davis change to Jim Davis) for August

II. Financial Report: Volunteer sheets were turned in. P&L was passed out. Martha Wescott from the Kitsap Sexual Assault Center called about a grant for $5000 that she thought we might qualify for, Laurie was going to follow up with her.

III. Committee Reports

A. Program - Working on Summit

B. Summit - Safeway is giving a discount on balloons, need the thank you cert. Printed and the forms to SVO tomorrow for copying. SVO will go this afternoon to church to check on audio etc. Everyone needs to stay and help clean up and bring coolers if you have them with a bag or two of ice. SVO is going to buy 4 cases of soda. Board agreed to pay $250 to the Crossroads Church. At tomorrows network meeting we will be stuffing the folders.

Susan announced that she would like to resign from the Program chair next year.

C. Community Education

D. Speakers Bureau/Trainings - Oct. 21st training for county employees - DV in the workplace. It will be held at the Givens Community Ctr. In Port Orchard 8:30 - Noon.

2. Topic Specific Workgroups

a. Bridging the Gap: Poor turn out lately at the meetings. We want to do another Judges Roundtable. Most of the Judges said they would like to do it again. We feel it was well received but no issues were resolved. Next meeting will probably be in November.

b. Faith Community Action Group: Continuing to contact clergy to participate - especially in the Summit.

Faith Forum Oct. 24 at the YWCA "Liability and Youth" 11:30-1:00 light lunch provided.

c. Substance Abuse Providers: No report

d. RESPECT Kitsap Youth: RESPECT brochures are turning out well. (Sample was passed around) Laurie is looking for grant money to cover brochure costs. She needs to know the number of students to be reached. Cost for printing 500 is about $500. They should be completed by 11/26.

e. Perpetrator Treatment/Victim's Services: No report

f. Minority Services - No report

g. Legislative update - No report
