MEETING MINUTES


JULY 24, 2001
5 p.m.
Silverdale Lutheran Church

Board Members Present: Susan Vitale-Olson, Denise Thomson, Dayle Crane, Debbie Brockman , Martha Voorhees, Sally Olsen, Ramalina Steiner, Cheryl Graf

Board Members Excused: Pete Ball, Dianne Juhl, Claire Bradley, Dean Logan, Marilyn Wandry, Dianne Juhl,

Board Members Not Excused: Martin Knott

Others Present: Heidi Hoke (Administrative Coordinator), Sue Nolan (Financial Coordinator)

The meeting was called to order by Chair, Cheryl Graf .

I. Approval of Minutes: June minutes were approved as corrected (Dean excused not present last month).

II. Financial Report: Year end report was submitted by Sue. We need to clarify the status of our VAWA funds. Cheryl, Dayle and Sally will participate on the search/hiring committee to find a new Financial Coordinator.

III . Committee Reports

    A. Program - notes from the last meeting were submitted. The next Program meeting is scheduled for August 15 at the YWCA at 9 a.m.

      1. Summit: Stalcup is all set. Arrangements are being made for flights and night's stay.
    • We have 8 planned breakouts, including a National Guard presentation about Meth and what you should know about it as a community.
    • Stalcup will present his keynote in morning and there will be two breakout sessions in the afternoon.
    • Registration brochure deadline is coming up.W
    • We need confirmations for breakouts by August 1st (get info to Heidi).
    • Debbie is working on lunch (looking into Smiley's Subs).
    • Sally is working on getting us binders.
    • Heidi got a printing quote for $1800 for printing 300 sets for the Summit notebook and will get more quotes, including with and without paper.
    • Cheryl can talk to Dave Gitch at HMH about donating paper.
    • Cheryl asked Heidi to get quotes from papers (The Sun and the weeklies) for advertising the Summit.
    • Reader boards - we'd like to get some advertising (free) that way. We'll talk about it more at the next Program meeting. We'd like to have our advertisement up for the first 2 weeks of September.

      2. Quarterly Forum: We have 5 people coming tonight. Russ Hauge, Det. Nicole Bergman KCSO, Brenda Humphrey survivor, Ramalina Steiner and Debbie Brockman.

    B. Community Education

      1. Speakers Bureau/Trainings - no report.

      2. Topic Specific Workgroups


      b. Bridging the Gap: no report

      c. Faith Community Action Group: no report

      d. CD & DV: Ramalina and Martha will do a presentation for the SAPA retreat in September.

      e. RESPECT Kitsap Youth: The minutes are on the website. "The Dating Game" (an interactive activity) will be the title for the Summit breakout.

      f. Perpetrator Treatment/Victim’s Services - next meeting on Thursday the 26th.

      g. Minority Services - Dayle reported that the Family Center is opening in August and they are asking us to help purchase print cartridges for their brochures. Denise will work on it and see if we can purchase some brochures instead which would fit into our grant money that we need to spend by the end of the month.

    C. Membership - Two applicants have applied for the vacant board positions. The applicants were told that the process will start up again in the Fall.

IV. Old Business

    A. KCDVTF Summer BBQ: August 22 - 4-9 p.m. at Long Lake. Sign up sheet for food by email. Cheryl will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, buns and a gas grill. We need to know how many people are planning on attending. Heidi will email everyone a reminder. People are also encouraged to bring their outdoor equipment.

    A. PF is moving their Parenting Center to the admin and programs office on Kitsap Way at the Cornerstone building, so this is where our DV Library will be now.
