BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING and Quarterly - July 23, 2002 5 p.m.
Silverdale Lutheran Church
Board Members Present: Helen Todhunter, Sue Shultz, Debbie Brockman, Susan Vitale-Olson, Martha Voorhees.
Board Members Excused: Pete Ball, Ramalina Steiner, Denise Thomson, Dayle Crane.
Board Members Not Excused: Rick Wilson, Martin Knott, Marilyn Wandry, Laurie Adamson, Dianne Juhl, Claire Bradley.
Others Present: Joan Taie (Administrative Coordinator), Oudy Acosta Perez, Tracy S. Flood, Benny Myers, Jeannie Allen, Norma Lashlee-Netter, John Wise
Debbie Brockman called the meeting to order.
I. Approval of Minutes: Moved to Aug. meeting due to lack of quorum.
II. Financial Report:Volunteer sheets were turned in. No P&L statement was available. Projected budget has been emailed to the board. The requirements for the Community Mobilization Grant has been completed and turned in to the county.
III. Committee Reports
A. Program - Next Meeting on Aug 21st at noon @ the YWCA. The following month there will be two meetings. One on Sept. 4th and one on Sept. 18th. Both meetings will be held at the YWCA at noon.
B. Summit - The program for the day of the summit has been planned. Still fine tuning a few details. Really need support of board/volunteers for help in putting it all together.
C. Community Education
D. Speakers Bureau/Trainings - No report
2. Topic Specific Workgroups
a. Bridging the Gap: No Report.
b. Faith Community Action Group: Still working on contacts with Faith community.
c. Substance Abuse Providers: Still working with SAPA but their board has taken the summer off.
d. RESPECT Kitsap Youth: No Report
e. Perpetrator Treatment/Victim's Services: No meeting in July. Each of the municipal courts are meeting with judges, probation officers etc. next meeting is being rescheduled.
f. Minority Services -BHD put together a grant for health for children and unborn babies. Part of it went to DV. Still need therapists for Hispanic children and adults.
g. Legislative update - No report
h. Membership - John Wise and Tracy Flood, board applicants were present and each introduced themselves and spoke about their accomplishments and why they want to be a part of the DV Task Force Board.
Tracy has been in Kitsap 13 years, was in the Navy is an Attorney in family law will soon be opening her own practice and is a legal services volunteer.
John spent the first half of his career in Arizona as a case worker for the local tribes. He was the Director of Mental Health Services for the Puyallup Tribe and now is at Westsound Treatment Center. No votes were made due to lack of a quorum.

A. Board/Community Donations - We really need to start another campaign for board and community donations. A donation form is available on the website.
B. Culture Fest - Really need volunteers for the CF on Sat. September 14th from 11 - 4:30 at the Pavilion. Joan will be emailing a schedule as it gets closer - please try to save some time on that day to help.
