KITSAP COUNTY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TASK FORCE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
June 24, 2003 Noon

Board Members Present: Tracy Flood, Debbie Brockman, Dave Bell, Dave Skelton, Lauren Fanning, Sue Shultz, Oudy Acosta Perez.
Board Members Excused: Kelly Pelland, Claire Bradley, John Wise, Susan Dewees, Susan Vitale Olson, Laurie Adamson, Martha Voorhees
Board Members Not Excused: Pete Ball, Sandy Robbins. Others Present: Joan Taie (Administrative Coordinator)
Sue Shultz called the meeting to order.
I. Approval of Minutes: Minutes were approved for April.
II. Financial Report: Volunteer sheets were turned in. P&L was passed out.
III. Committee Reports Program - Al Townsend and Chief Forbes will be BBQer's at the picnic. Also there will be Explorer's and Cadets volunteering. Each board member is to bring an ice chest with 2 bags of ice. Checking on Brem-Air to donate a small dumpster. Maybe have some swing dancers. Press releases will be going out to all the papers. Everyone is to come early to the board meeting and stay for clean-up.
A. Community Education
B. Speakers Bureau/Trainings - Sue spoke at the BAR Assoc. luncheon with a PowerPoint presentation she put together. Well received. Sue is still working on bettering the presentation.
2. Topic Specific Workgroups
a. Bridging the Gap: No contact upon released was signed. It will take awhile before it will work smoothly.
b. Faith Community Action Group: No report
c. Substance Abuse Providers: No report
RESPECT Kitsap Youth: No Report
d. Perpetrator Treatment/Victim's Services: No report
Minority Services - Working with Judges and Tribes on protection orders. If law enforcement take a call and see that the perp has a protection order but it is issued from the Tribal courts they can't enforce it. Prosecutors from Suquamish are very motivated to get orders issued with dual #'s that work with both Federal and County. Still working on local DV treatment for perpetrators. Also wanting to get other minority involved with our group. Right now it is mostly Hispanic and African American.

A. Donations - Board approved donating $50 to the clown, $100 to NK drama and money to Hometown Band. Also approved $81 for the event permit from the health dist. for the picnic.
