KITSAP COUNTY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TASK FORCE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
May 5, 2004 11:00 P.M.

Board Members Present: Sue Shultz, Oudy Acosta Perez, Susan Vitale-Olson, Dave Skelton, Debbie Brockman, Laurie Adamson, Lauren Fanning, Dave Bell, Susan Dewees, Sharlene Hays, Benny Myers & Jody Stewart.

Board Members Excused: Kelly Pelland, Sandy Robbins, Claire Bradley,

Board Members Not Excused: Tracy Flood, Martha Voorhees.

Others Present: Joan Taie (Administrative Coordinator

Sue Shultz called the meeting to order.

I. Approval of Minutes: Minutes were approved for February & March.

II. Financial Report: P&L was passed out and explained.

III. Committee Reports

Program -. Award event was discussed and nominations were voted on. Winners are: USS Ohio, Prosecutor's Office, Karen Timbers, Mary Ellen de la Pe?a, Johanna Hansen-Keller, David Lewis, Martin Ellingboe. Joan will send letters to award winners.

Prep for BBQ July 27th is beginning. Joan will make flyers to pass out and letters for donations will be sent out via email.

Summit - this year the Summit will be on 9/24/04. Tracy Baum (sp) has accepted as our guest speaker. Cost will be considerably less then last year since she has family here and her fee is only $450 a day. She will be speaking on "stalking". We have a working title "Every Move You Make - Dangers of Stalking". (thanks Benny).

Community Education A. Speakers Bureau/Trainings -A phone conference will be taking place today at 2pm with the state regarding training in June. Susan Vitale-Olson will report on outcome.

2. Topic Specific Workgroups

a. Bridging the Gap: No report

b. Faith Community Action Group: Meeting next week.

c. Substance Abuse Providers: No Report

RESPECT Kitsap Youth: Group is requesting $200 from the TF for a boombox and screen so they can do their dating violence training without having to depend on others. Board voted to reimburse them up to $200.

b. Perpetrator Treatment/Victim's Services: No report

c. Minority Services - Meeting is postponed until June. El Centro has been working with women on becoming more independent. Interpreters are assisting these women who choose to file for divorce.

f. Membership - Letters will be going out to all board members regarding attendance.

IV. Old Business - Executive board voting will take place at the Retreat

V. New Business - Sue Shultz is working on attending Attorney General's DV Summit June 10th-11th and encouraging other service providers to send a rep.

VI. DV Library needs updating - Susan D. is going to get an inventory of what we have and figure out what we need. We will then order videos appropriately.
