KITSAP COUNTY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TASK FORCE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING- March 25, 2003 Noon
Health District
Board Members Present: Pete Ball, Claire Bradley, Debbie Brockman, Laurie Adamson, Susan Vitale-Olsen, John Wise, Kelly Pelland, Dave Bell & Susan Dewees.
Board Members Excused: Sue Shultz, Martha Voorhees, Tracy Flood & Denise Thomson

Others Present: Joan Taie (Administrative Coordinator)
Debbie Brockman called the meeting to order.
I. Approval of Minutes: Minutes were approved for February.
II. Financial Report: Volunteer sheets were turned in. P&L was passed out.
III. Committee Reports
A. Program - Jackson Katz will be the keynote speaker. Date will be Friday October 3rd, 2003. It will be held at the Howard Johnson on Kitsap Way this year. We expect a good turnout. Still looking for a title for it. Subject is youth violence; any ideas email them to Joan.
Awards are on April 22 at the Silverdale church on Ridgetop. There will be food for the board meeting that starts at 5:00 P.M.
B. Community Education
C. Speakers Bureau/Trainings - No report.
2. Topic Specific Workgroups
a. Bridging the Gap: Meeting was cancelled. Next meeting will be in May. Organizing another Judicial Roundtable for fall.
b. Faith Community Action Group: March 11 Debbie Boe put together training for us to have that is short but thorough. She has worked really hard on it. We are on the fall agenda for the NK/BI Ministerial Association. Sue Shultz asked for youth information from the churches to use in the newspaper series. Working on getting that information to her.
c. Substance Abuse Providers: No report.
RESPECT Kitsap Youth: Next month there will be a guest speaker from the Youth Committee in Seattle. They will talk about how they put their group together. NK Drama has a skit that was written and directed by a NK JR. about youth violence. SVO will let the board know when it is going to show so those that can, can go see it to see how it may fit in our Summit program.
d. Perpetrator Treatment/Victim's Services: Went to Bremerton to meet and all the providers in the county showed up. Great turnout, excellent meeting. Met some new service providers from Advantage Plus.
Minority Services - No report
g. Legislative update - no report
h. Membership -three spots open on the board.
IV. Old Business -
A. Budget for trainings - $2,000 for first year
B. Office space - no update - still need $$
C. Grants - Pete and Laurie still need to get together.
D. Fund raising/donations - Dave Bell is going to contact the SK dance troupe about a fundraiser. Board still working on donations, no envelopes have come back yet. Dave Bell gave SVO info on fund raising at the M's games. She is going to check into it further to see how many people need to help and how many games we need to commit too. It would be a good volunteer opportunity for high school kids.
