KITSAP COUNTY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TASK FORCE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING- January 28, 2003 5:00 P.M.
Silverdale Lutheran Church

Board Members Present: Denise Thomson, Susan Vitale-Olson, Martha Voorhees, Debbie Brockman, Sue Shultz, and Laurie Adamson.

Board Members Excused: Helen Todhunter, Dayle Crane, Ramalina Steiner & Pete Ball.

Board Members Not Excused: Marilyn Wandrey, Tracy Flood, John Wise, Claire Bradley & Martin Knott.

Others Present: Kelly Pelland & Dave Bell (board applicants)

Debbie Brockman called the meeting to order.

I. Approval of Minutes: Minutes were approved for December.

II. Financial Report: Volunteer sheets were turned in. P&L was passed out.

III. Committee Reports

A. Program - Jackson Katz will be the keynote speaker. Still waiting on a date from him. Adam Shipman will also speak at the Summit and the Quarterly (following this meeting)

B. Community Education

C. Speakers Bureau/Trainings - No report.

2. Topic Specific Workgroups

a. Bridging the Gap: Judge Reihl talked with Suquamish Tribe regarding protection orders, etc. Also addressing problems with interpreters and translations.

b. Faith Community Action Group: Working on strategies on getting the word out about DV trainings to reach out to additional churches/faiths.

c. Substance Abuse Providers: No report.

RESPECT Kitsap Youth: Brochures being distributed to schools.

d. Perpetrator Treatment/Victim's Services: No Report

Minority Services - No report

g. Legislative update - Quarterly Meetings by county in Olympia about 1/3 budget cuts for DV services. Next meeting is March 19th

h. Membership -The TF voted in and welcomed 3 new members, Kelly Pelland, Dave Bell and Susan Dewees.

IV. Old Business -

New Business - Quarterly meeting - Adam Shipman spoke to an audience of 27.

Board Retreat is 8:30 A.M. on the 25th of February at Long Lake Rec. in Port Orchard. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!!!

Awards are coming up in April - Start thinking of nominations.
