PLANNING RETREAT MINUTES
2001


February 9, 2001

Dates for the Summit 2001 were discussed September 25 (Tuesday)and October 2 (Tuesday). October 2 was selected.

Same facility as last year for the retreat (Crossroads Church) capacity of 700. Proposed that the summit be planned completely by June 2001

SAPA request to be involved with our DV summit and Dean Logan to explore this option

Proposed “Youth” focus for summit or “Healthy families” focus

All board members encouraged to attend the program committee meetings to help plan the summit, if you are not able to attend those meetings please get your ideas and inputs to . It will take all of us to get this summit off the ground

DVTF Goals Proposed:

1. Increase awareness of DV with local therapists
2. Increase resources for victims (therapy)
3. Increase DV funding in Kitsap County
4. Educate community re: Kitsap data on DV
5. Economic Justice issues (include in summit 2001)
6. Housing for DV survivors/victims
7. Personalize DV in Kitsap “put a face on it”
8. Educate board members
9. Community Education “concrete ideas”
10. Outreach of DVTF board members to the community
“what are you involved in and what are you willing to do in 2001”
11. Bottom-line, “what is the boards business to do”
12. Improve victim safety
a. Fund cell phones
b. Media safety message
c. VINE link (Pete Ball to update board)
13. Focus on positive/healthy relationships in Kitsap
14. Volunteers to the DV board to get resource guides out in the community (how do we get this organized)?

Suggestions for 2001-2001 Budget Spending:

1. Individual workgroup budgets
2. Annual retreat budget
3. Computer laptop/light box/AV equipment (Sue Nolan to explore grant opportunities with these)
4. Office space/storage space
5. $2000 for keynote summit speakers
6. Library/resource materials
7. Increased administrative hours/increased rate of pay
8. Printing child abuse information
9. Educational budget for DV board members (conference fees etc.)
